April 10, 2008

Friday was a day that changed all of our lives here in Murfreesboro, TN. We were hit by two tornadoes, the strongest being an EF-3. Two were killed, a 20 year old mother, Kori and her 9 week old daughter, Olivia. Kori's husband, Olivi's dad, was critically injured and is still in the hospital. 41 people were injured. Hundreds of homes were destroyed. It was totally devistating. It's taken all weekend for me to fully grasp the magnituted of the damage. Thank GOD we are all safe.

Our preacher, David Young, was out running on the Greenway when the storm hit. He literally held onto a tree for dear life. After the storm passed, he and the tree were the only things standing. You tell me that isn't the work of our Lord and Savior. He was hurt, but not badly, and delivered our sermon on Sunday, with one crutch :)

Please pray for our town. Please pray for our friends that had their homes destryoed. Please pray for those that were hurt. Please pray for emotional healing. We know that our Lord was watching over us all on Friday, and we have so much to be thankful for. It's going to be a long road of rebuilding.

~Blessings~

Oh wow that's soo scary! I'll definitely be saying prayers. What is the spray painted "C" on the houses for? I'm glad you are alright.

Thanks Jill!! The "C" was for "Clear" I'm pretty sure. Creepy but they were having to go around and make sure the homes didn't have any victims in them. Thank God they didn't. The mom and baby that were killed were trying to get out of the house, get to a safe place when the storm hit. They were caught in it trying to get in the car...so sad!!

Leslie - glad you guys were safe! It's been nuts around here, but you're so right - we are all very fortunate! :) I heard the story about your Pastor and had no idea who it was....so crazy!
